A Perfectly Good Wedding Recap

Another week, another incredible Superman and Lois episode, so let’s dive right in!

The episode starts with a very emotional scene that sees Lois processing everything that happened, culminating in the death of her father. But life goes on, and we get to see a series of moments for the Kents as they handle the fallout of everything that’s happened in the course of the past few weeks, and a very poignant conversation about making the most of life. It’s bittersweet as we see glimpses of the tension and fractured situation between Jordan and Lois, but we soon see everything returns to some normality, including the brothers bickering.

Elsewhere, Kyle and Chrissy have some very different ideas for how to have a wedding. While Kyle has big ideas with music and dancing with his future mother in law, it’s clear Chrissy doesn’t hold that same enthusiasm. But they’re clearly all about wanting to make it work.

Even if that includes last minute arrangements due to a burst pipe at the courthouse. Lois swoops to the rescue with the idea to host the wedding at the Kent barn and Chrissy agrees, but only if it means Lois is the maid of honor, which she heartily agrees to.

Jonathan meanwhile is getting used to his powers, and his enthusiasm is noted as he swerves in and around - and through! - glaciers. But for all of his easy mastering of his powers, he does wish his brother were there, but Jordan’s stuck in his room replaying the message where Lois chose his brother over him. It’s a tough situation for him, and he’s clearly not processing it quite well.

Speaking of frosty situations, Chrissy’s mom is quite something, asking Kyle hard-hitting questions, adding some very biting comments while at the diner, showcasing she’s not quite onboard with this relationship as the lovebirds would have hoped. Afterwards, when she and Kyle are alone in the Kent house getting everything ready for the wedding, she confronts him about his reason for marrying his daughter. Kyle manages to hold his own, but it’s clear the in-law relationship is headed down a rocky road.

Of course, as the wedding approaches, Jordan hears Gretchen’s voice, and instructs Jonathan where to go with Lois, while he hangs back. A little while later, in the barn, he and Sarah have a heart to heart about what’s eating Jordan up, and how he can move on from his guilt over everything that happened.

Over in Metropolis, Lois confronts Gretchen over her role in everything that happened with her father, and gives her an ultimatum: help Lois by going on the record, and thus helping to put Lex behind bars again, or wait for when Lex inevitably kills her.

While Gretchen didn’t give Lois a response in the moment, we know she was ruminating on the reality that her life is in danger.

Back at the Kent house, we finally get Lois and Jordan talking a bit, dealing with the fallout of everything that happened. Clark and Samuel Lane’s deaths, the phone call, it’s been a heavy burden for Jordan, and Lois wants to help him, if he’ll let her.

At the wedding, there’s a lot happening, which puts a pause on the festivities, but does lead to a number of heartfelt conversations and a few revelations too between a number of characters.

Overall, the episode had its careful balance of poignant moments mixed in with the action. We’re almost halfway through the season, and after watching the episode, it’s clear that we’re going to be heading to a very action-packed conclusion, and hopefully also some peace and quiet for the Kent family and their friends!

Wish we would see Clark's reaction to Jonathan having powers.
