For Season 1A of S & L I'll give it a B+/8 out of 10.

What I've really enjoyed so far is Tyler Hoechlin's wonderful performance as Superman and Clark (he's become my 2nd favorite Superman after Christopher Reeve), some pretty awesome Superman action, all Clark and Lois scenes plus Martha Kent in Episode 5.

What I haven't enjoyed as much is the vast majority of episodes being at night-time or in poorly lit rooms, in Episode 5 for example I struggled to see about half of what looked to be some cool Superman flying, it was just too dark, definitely in need of some sunshine on the show.

Would also like to see a better balance between Superman and Clark, the last 3 episodes have been about 75% Clark/25% Superman, I have a preference for this to be closer to 50/50 with Superman appearing 3 times in an episode (beginning, middle and end). Superman is the reason I watch this show.

My opening post was made after Episode 5, with Season 1 now completed here are some of my thoughts on the season as a whole:

I give S & L Season 1 a A-/8.5 out of 10.

Favorite Episodes - 1,6 and 11 (the 1st 25 minutes of which were for me the most enjoyable part of the season).

Favorite Superman costume - Definitely the Fleischer costume as seen in Episodes 1 and 11. Looked great on Tyler.

Best performances of the season - Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch. Both gave outstanding performances all season long.

Superman's Superheroics - in a word 'Awesome'.

Favorite Non-Titular Character - Martha Kent

I look forward to re-watching the season again when it's available on Blu-Ray with the 1 hour long extended episodes.

Feel free to add any of your own thoughts on Superman and Lois Season 1.

I am still unsure if S&L is totally ignoring its Arrowverse backstory or if this is taking place in the future...
Diggle's appearance would seem to confirm it takes place on Earth Prime. It's odd that Supergirl's existence is flat out ignored by all parties--heroes, villains, and others. She's completely missing from any conversation about Krypton's survivors or the need for the 7734 weapons.

With the news this week of the passing of Superman The Movie director Richard Donner I gained a new appreciation for the 1st 25 minutes of Episode 11. Those flashback sequences for me featured a number of homages to Superman The Movie which gave me much enjoyment. Definitely my favorite part of Season 1.

I am still unsure if S&L is totally ignoring its Arrowverse backstory or if this is taking place in the future... 14 years ahead of Arrowverse proper, explaining the boys age or perhaps it's actually on a different Earth, such as Earth 2 with Stargirl? With Arrowverse proper (Earth-Prime) on the decline... Black Lightning ended this past Spring and Supergirl will end in the fall (November? ), both Flash and Legends badly showing they are past their prime and Batwoman deliberately pitting Kate Kane fans against Ryan Wilder fans, perhaps the CWVerse proper should move to Earth 2. If it did, any new crossovers including the OG Arrowverse could still include Superman, as he existed on Earth Prime... just use his Crisis Supersuit. If CW puts Naomi on Earth 2, Jon and Jordan could potentially teamup with Naomi and Team Stargirl for future crossovers. Just another thought to toss into the theory pool.

S&L has set a new standard for Arrowverse. My only complaint is that it seems to be an Arrowverse show that is ignoring its Arrowverse roots.

The explanation that might make most sense is that several years has passed since Crisis on S&L and the events of S&L are set 13-14 years ahead of Arrowverse proper. This would explain Jonathan (and Jordan) going from infant to high school teenager of 15 (?) years. Depending how they end Supergirl, Kara may have left the timeline to join the Legion and the twins never got to know her. Also, perhaps the original Fortress was destroyed post Supergirl and we now have a new Fortress or the remnants of the original. A timeline differential would help with the inconsistencies.

I've been enjoying the show probably on a level not since Season 1 of the Flash. But the Icon's been my favorite.

the Night time bits are harder to watch just to make out things but overall the show's been great. The storyline is definitely one I haven't read in the comics, latest episode ending on a cliffhanger that I hope the show doesn't mess up.
