So today we are learning that there is going to be a bit of a hiatus for Superman and Lois. As far as hiatuses go, this is probably the best outcome that could happen. Here's the story. So as everyone knows, Covid has been a big mess on everyone's daily lives as well as the filming industry. New standards in filming practices had to be implemented and this summer those went into effect. The show had a Covid outbreak that caused the show to pause production. This was done out of caution and from what we've seen, everything was done to code and with care. That said, the show is behind a little bit in production and needs to go on hiatus to catch up.
So, what are they going to do with that time slot for the break? Possibly the best thing they could! Superman's cousin and originator of the Tyler Hoechlin Superman, Supergirl will premiere their sixth and final season! Supergirl will take the Tuesday 9pm time slot from Superman and Lois while the hiatus occurs, then when Superman and Lois is back up with enough episodes in the can, Supergirl will go on hiatus until a Summer return alongside Stargirl!
With Superman and Lois' popularity skyrocketing, it isn't ideal that the show go into a forced hiatus after five episodes but, in the world of Covid, and having great DC Comics' based-television and adding that we want everyone to be safe and healthy, this is kind of a dream hiatus! Pause Superman and Lois for safety only to get a Supergirl premiere? Sounds awesome to us!

I do hope this doesn't impact Superman's momentum. I read elsewhere that episode 4 airing on 3/16 will be the last until the May return, I am hoping episode 5 will still air on 3/23. But who better than Supergirl to keep his spot warm with new episodes instead of reruns. I would think Supergirl wouldn't have much in the can and ready as they started so late filming.
It's not so much that they can air both, its that Superman and Lois is behind in production and they just don't have the episodes to air.
Why not put Supergirl on Mondays at 8pm?
