Welcome back Superman and Lois fans! It's a bitter sweet night tonight. We are so excited to enjoy another all new episode of Superman and Lois but this marks the last new episode of the show for the next seven weeks. Our Supergirl fans will hopefully join us over at Supergirl.tv while we cover Clark's biological cousin and her adventures in her final season. Turning back to Superman, Clark's arguably biggest weakness was exploited and targeted tonight. Kryptonite? Not this time, Captain Luthor set his eyes on Lois Lane and if Tyler Hoechlin's Superman is anything like the Superman in The DCEU, threatening Lois is a BIG DEAL! Let's review what all happened in tonight's episode, here's what stood out to us:
- Superman Activity Uptick: Superman er, Clark is super excited about Smallville's Harvest Festival. His fond memories of giving and sharing with the community are the bedrock of much of what Superman is. The Kent farm is going to donate a whole row of corn. At school, Sarah and Jordan agree to a date at the festival but Jonathan, excited to spend time with his girlfriend Eliza, gets dumped over the phone. At the Smallville Gazette, Sharon Powell has returned along with her son. They are clearly hiding something and trying to get Lois and Crissy to stop reporting on the story. Captain Luthor has tracked down Lois and prepares his next move. At the Community Center, the Powells go to donate some clothing for the festival but Sharon's son has to step away not feeling well. In a closet, his eyes burst into heat vision!
- Flash Back to Smallville: We are treated to a fun flashback scene where Clark is dressing for the Harvest Festival when he was a teenager and he hears a burglary in process. Clark rushes to stop the burglary and snaps a shotgun in half. It was a fun call back to Smallville. In the present, Clark hears the Community Center is on fire and rushes to put out the flames but not appearing as Superman. He saves Kyle's life. At the scene of the fire Lois inquires as to the source of the fire. She alerts Crissy that Derek Powell was there when the fire started and then she is called out by Captain Luthor in street clothes.
- Captain's Gambit: Captain Luthor presents himself as a reporter from another paper. He claims he knows of a way to get info on Morgan Edge. Lois gives him her number but Luthor is just feeling her out. Sharon goes to the Gazette where she shares that her son has left her claiming "he needs space". Yet another suspicious action. Jonathan has a bit of a breakdown teling Clark he wants to go back to Metropolis. He and Jordan head out to the festival in anger. Clark remembers a time when he lashed out at Martha for similar reasons. At the festival, Jonathan does a bit of rebellion and drinks with fellow teammates. Jordan leaves to find Sarah. Derek is tracked by Crissy where she finds him kissing Morgan Edge's assistant Leslie Larr. She takes him inside a facility where they supposedly can fix his heat vision issue.
- The Sunstone: Clark continues to reflect on his time as a teen. His desire to be more forces Martha to give Clark the Sunstone that would create the Fortress of Solitude. At the festival, Jonathan is drunk and triggers Sarah as she is dealing with her own drunk father. Jordan takes his brother to get some water and leaves the boys as well as Sarah. Clark and Lois catch the boys at the festival and Lois quickly dispatches the boys back home in a ride share. Crissy calls with the news of Leslie and Derek being together in that facility and Superman heads there immediately to investigate.
- Chasing a Meta: Derek seems to have flight and heat vision at the very least. Superman begins chasing him and Derek tries to start disasters to stop Superman from following him. Superman is able to stop each disaster. Captain Luthor is tracking the pair and goes to engage. A blast from a rocket weapon from Luthor's ship knocks Derek and Superman out of the air. Superman asks to help Derek but he says he's already dead and bursts into flames, his body not being able to handle the powers of Superman. When Captain Luthor heads to investigate Superman is gone and Derek has burned up.
In the final wrap up moments of the show, Jonathan apologizes to Clark and Lois for his behavior. Clark gives him only one pass because he knows how his son is feeling. Jonathan agrees to give Smallville another chance. Clark and Lois go to donate more after the fire and they find out that Morgan Edge has swooped in to replace all that was destroyed in the fire. Lana then debuts a public bench dedicated to Martha. A gift to Clark and an honor to his mother for always being there for the people of Smallville. We get a flashback to Clark and Martha sitting on that bench, Clark leaving to discover his Kryptonian heritage. Clark and Lois reflect on the many things going on while sitting on the bench. Captain Luthor is watching and we learn that Lois was actually married to Captain Luthor on his world. Sarah and Jordan catch up and Sarah puts on the brakes. She needs a friend right now and Jordan is happy to oblige. As Jordan is walking home Tag reappears and starts attacking Jordan!

I would like TPTB to reconcile the conflicts of both doppelgangers and The Fortress of Solitude within the Arrowverse. Perhaps Lex alters the Fortess somehow when Supergirl returns... Hopefully, they don't just continue to ignore it.
Exactly. At this point, I'm not sure whether that's possible.
Quote: It was weird how they handled Clark at the end of Crisis. You're right that he wasn't a paragon. But he seemed surprised by Lois saying they had sons, which would indicate his pre-crisis memories were intact, like Kara, Barry and the others.
We really didn't get clarification on the doppelgangers. While Batwoman and the Flash seemed to indicate they couldn't, Supergirl and the two Al's suggested otherwise. We were left with no explanation of the post Crisis conflict.
Which begs the question, is Captain Luther another Earth's Lex?
I am also not sure if Clark has pre-Crisis memories as he was not a Paragon. Would the Martian have given Clark his pre-Crisis memories back?
Did we ever get a definitive answer on whether doppelgangers can co-exist on the same world. I remember some confusion on that point.
Post Crisis, Supergirl and Batwoman had bleedovers of other Earth people. I assume this is the same situation, but the writers may throw us a curve.
The question is...how did Captain Luthor get to where he is now? Crisis?
That makes sense...
Now I wonder is Leslie a Kryptonian or an X-kryptonite creation?
Interesting twist with Captain Luthor's past with his world's Lois Lane.
